Hinds CC crowns Miss Hinds Community College 2018

RAYMOND – Charity Lockridge, of Vicksburg, was named Miss Hinds Community College in the annual pageant Thursday, Nov. 16.

As Miss Hinds Community College, Lockridge will participate next summer in the Miss Mississippi pageant in Vicksburg. The pageant is an official preliminary pageant of the Miss America Pageant program.

Lockridge, 20, is a sophomore studying art at the Raymond Campus. She is a Vicksburg High School graduate. Her talent was a vocal performance of “Via Dolorosa” and her platform A.W.A. – Alive with Autism.”

First runner-up was Cyla Logan, 19, of Edwards. She is a sophomore at the Raymond Campus studying nursing. She is a Raymond High School graduate. Her talent was a vocal performance of “Weak” and her platform the Stewpot Community Service Summer Camp.

Second runner-up was Cassie Pierce, 19, also of Edwards. She is a sophomore at the Raymond Campus studying dental hygiene. Her talent was a jazz dance routine to “Praying” and her platform the National Down Syndrome Society.

Miss Hinds 2017 prepares for Miss Mississippi Pageant

RAYMOND — Miss Hinds Community College 2017 Abigail Walters received a check from Hinds President Dr. Clyde Muse to cover her expenses as she prepares for the Miss Mississippi pageant, a preliminary pageant for Miss America.

Walters, 20, of Vicksburg, a student at the Jackson Campus-Nursing Allied Health Center, was crowned Miss Hinds on Nov. 17. She graduated from Hinds in 2016 and is currently in nursing school.

As Miss Hinds Community College, Walters will participate next summer in the Miss Mississippi pageant in Vicksburg. The pageant is an official preliminary pageant of the Miss America Pageant program.

Walters, 20, is a student at the Jackson Campus-Nursing Allied Health Center. She graduated from Hinds in 2016 and is currently in nursing school. She attended Warren Central High School. Her talent was a jazz dance routine and her platform was Stay Active Seniors!

First runner-up was Bethanie Myers, of Walnut Grove, a Raymond Campus sophomore studying Secondary Education. Second runner-up was Hope Ragan, of Vicksburg, a Utica Campus freshman studying Criminology.

Helom, 20, is a Raymond Campus sophomore majoring in biology. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School and is a cheerleader and a member of Hinds Connection. Her talent was a monologue titled “Emmitt Till,” in which she took on the character of Till’s mother, and her platform is “Girl Scouts of America: beYOUtiful.”

First runner-up was Abigail Walters, 19, of Vicksburg, a Raymond Campus sophomore majoring in nursing. Second runner-up was Mary Neely Meyers, 19, of Madison, a Raymond Campus freshman majoring in business and marketing.

Kelsey Sellers wins title of Miss Hinds 2013

Kelsey Sellers of Raymond, freshman at Hinds Community College, was named Miss Hinds 2013 on Thursday, Jan. 31 at Hogg Auditorium in Cain-Cochran Hall.

Sellers was crowned by Miss Hinds 2012, Lindsey Claire Muse of Raymond. Sellers’ talent was dancing. As Miss Hinds, she will be eligible to compete in the Miss Mississippi pageant over the summer.

Her platform issue is “Fun with Fitness”, focusing on evolving young people’s ideas of staying fit. Sellers has instructed Zumba classes within the community to demonstrate that exercise can be fun. “Seeing people enjoying moving and exercising is a wonderful experience,” she said.

Four students compete for title of Miss Hinds 2013

Four Hinds Community College students will compete for the title of Miss Hinds Community College 2013 at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31 at Hogg Auditorium in Cain-Cochran Hall.

The winner of the pageant is eligible to compete in the Miss Mississippi pageant over the summer.

The pageant is open to the public. Admission is $5.

The four contestants include:

  • Kelsey Sellers of Raymond; talent is dancing.
  • Kelsey Chandler of Pearl; talent is dance.
  • Megan Ware of Meridian; talent is dance and tumbling.
  • Paige Fowler of Vicksburg; talent is jazz dance.
